As the son of a physician and a nurse, it should come as no surprise that much of Brown Parkinson’s legal career has been focused on the intersection of law and medicine. This has included medical malpractice and other healthcare related negligence and professional liability claims and those involving drugs and medical devices used in treating patients.
Mr. Parkinson regularly provides representation to a number of hospitals, physicians, and other healthcare professionals and organizations throughout the Upstate. His work also includes handling of professional licensing and disciplinary matters of doctors, nurses, and other professionals, as well as hospital medical staff and credentialing matters. He has also handled a variety of wrongful death and serious personal injury negligence cases for both plaintiff and defense.
As a trial lawyer, Brown has spent much of his career in courtrooms across upstate South Carolina in jury trials. His experience and reputation as a trial lawyer resulted in his being named to the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), a national invitation-only organization of trial attorneys dedicated to the community legal education and preservation of the right to a jury trial in America. Since many legal disputes are also being handled by alternate dispute resolution, Brown often finds himself now in mediation, both as an advocate for his client or as the mediator. He is certified as a mediator in both the State and Federal courts. Brown has also been involved in bar related activities in the state, serving on the Board of Governors and in the House of Delegates of the South Carolina Bar. In his spare time, Brown enjoys spending time with his wife, children and grandson, playing golf, and cheering on the Gamecocks.
